Advent Retreat ‘ 2016 on oblate charism preached by Fr. Adam Filas, OMI

“St. Eugene de Mazenod is a good example of a „man of advent”. We all remember him as the Founder of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate Congregation. We are currently celebrating 200th anniversary since our founding. At Mass on the 19th of October, 1975, during which Eugene de Mazenod was beatified, Pope Paul VI reflected: “Eugene de Mazenod was on fire with Jesus Christ, totally dedicated (oblacio) to the missionary life of the Church.” During the Mass of St. Eugene’s canonization, on December 3, 1995, St. John Paul II reflected: “saint Eugene was a man of Advent, one striving to live out the anticipation of the coming of the Son of Man… a modern day apostle – an apostle for our times.”
