Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate – MAMI is the organization of lay people established within the Oblate of Mary Immaculate Congregation which supports the missionary work of Oblate priests and brothers from Assumption Province of Canada working in collaboration with Polish Province in Canadian North missions, Madagascar, Cameroon, Ukraine, Russia, Turkmenistan, Byelorussia and many other African, South American and Asian Countries.
What is being achieved through the Oblates in their respective missions would not be possible without support from the members of the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate. The projects from mission countries are submitted and reviewed by the Provincial of the area, who then passes the request on to the MAMI office, from where in turn it is reviewed and if seen to be really making a difference to the lives of the people concerned and bearable for MAMI to take upon – is approved by the Provincial of Assumption Province in Council. Oblate missionary activity is inspired by the Founder of the Oblate Congregation, St Eugene de Mazenod and his challenge to: “Leave Nothing Undared for the Kingdom of God”. All members of the Oblate Family, religious and laity, are called to assist the poor and abandoned in society and to follow the principles set down by St Eugene: “First we make them human, Then Christian, Then Saints…”
MAMI, through their involvement and dedication support in a concrete way the families threatened by every day challenges or natural disasters in the third world countries. MAMI delivers aid to those in need; provide for example a medical aid to mothers with young children, help homeless people with housing, enable children to go to school, and also assist our seminarians studying to become Missionary Oblates.
